1. Principal & Leadership Briefing (30 minutes)

A short but powerful introduction to the CAS model — perfect for Business Managers, Principals, Deputies and team leads.
In this session, you’ll hear how Climate Action Schools supports schools to:

  • Reduce waste costs and improve operational sustainability

  • Align leadership actions with Circular Economy, LEAN thinking, and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles

  • Build early steps toward sustainability learning pathways

Two Pathways to Begin Your Journey

Schools can begin with either the online pathway or the in-person combined workshop.

Option A — Online Pathway

Perfect for schools wanting to begin quickly, with flexibility in scheduling.

Step 1: How to Become a Climate Action School (2 hours online)

A practical introduction to the foundations of the CAS model.
In this session, your team will learn how to:

  • identify resource recovery opportunities across all streams

  • activate your Climate Action Plan with clear steps

  • apply simple Functional Sustainability methods

  • reduce operational pressures through smarter systems

  • align sustainability action with V9 curriculum

  • begin mapping your school’s sustainability ecosystem

Step 2: The System Explained

Once your school has attended the above workshop, this next stage teaches you how to build your Climate Action School using LEAN tools.

This workshop supports your leadership team to:

  • strengthen internal systems through LEAN thinking

  • embed resource recovery into school operations

  • map processes in alignment with SEMP and Carbon Plans

  • build student agency and capability

  • connect these systems meaningfully to industry

  • set a 3-month commitment period with the CAS Pledge

Option B — In-Person Combined Workshop

For schools seeking a deeper experience delivered in a 5 hour session.

This workshop brings together everything from the 2 above workshops into a single, immersive, in-person training.
Available only on selected dates, this 5 hour workshop gives your team:

  • a complete understanding of the CAS system

  • hands-on practice with LEAN tools

  • direct connection to industry examples

  • a full Climate Action School activation roadmap

  • clarity on building systems, leadership alignment and student capability

  • access to templates, tools and planning guides normally spread across two separate workshops

This option is ideal for schools ready to move quickly or prefer face-to-face professional learning.
